California Polytechnic State University graduates Judy Staley and Fred Sisson cofound REC (Renewable Energy Concepts) Solar. Their goal? To make the world a better place for future generations.

REC Solar expanded across the U.S., developing a large portfolio of commercial solar projects and establishing a strong presence in key markets, including Hawaii. This work helped drive the growth of distributed solar into a major segment of the power market.

As power markets grew more complex — driven by rising costs, evolving grid conditions, and increasing reliability demands — integrating storage and firm power became critical. We expanded our capabilities to include fuel cells, gensets, microgrids and other distributed energy resources, positioning ahead of where the market was heading.

With investment from a fund managed by ArcLight Capital Partners, we expanded our ability to develop, finance, own, and operate distributed power projects at greater scale — accelerating the buildout of a broader distributed power platform.

Today, we are REC Power — a leading nationwide owner and operator of distributed power systems, with a long-term approach to asset performance. Solar remains core to who we are, and our broader set of distributed power resources and systems allows us to deliver greater cost control, operational flexibility, and dependable performance in today’s complex power market.
